Wow. It has been awhile since I have been on here. I think the documentation of thoughts and even activities is so important because looking back at the last things I posted here is just so inspiring to me. I recently have been struggling with my new schedule and seeing why I started this blog really makes me excited for circling back to it and adding more content to each of those cute lil tabs.
So to begin, what have I been up to? Well, I recently defended my Master’s thesis in biomedical engineering at the University of Vermont and successfully passed my committee’s evaluation. My project was titled Targeting and Modeling Protein Adsorption Kinetics on Nanoparticles towards Improved Drug Delivery. Yeah…definitely pushing the character limit on that one. My masters experience in Vermont was a super fulfilling one, so much so that I am continuing my education in Boston. Here I will study cancer therapies ranging from different chemos, different nanoparticles/ delivery methods, and differing light exposures, and sometimes I will use all of these treatments in unison. I am incredibly thankful for my time at UVM and absolutely ecstatic to continue this type of research, which is very personal for me.

I want to try to be as transparent as possible with you, so I am going to share my next-step goals for this blog. Now that I am working as a research technician I will have a more regimented schedule and no stressful schoolwork nights, which I was getting way too familiar with. I took this new position because school really did run me into the ground. It’s hard for me to not give my all in whatever I am doing and this can be great…but it also wore me out these past 5 years at UVM. Completing an accelerated master’s thesis in biomedical engineering is not a walk in the park. If anything, I’d compare it more to a walk in a dense forest, at night, with a dead flashlight, and no water. Maybe you have a few stale crackers, but it really depends on the day. Anyways, with more time on my hands I am aiming to write on this page at least once a week. I will be working to have each post be something with good content that the reader can learn from, and hopefully implement in their life.
In addition to writing here, I will continue posting on my instagram (@breakawaywithbrooke), which is where a lot of my day-to-day things get shared. If you are looking to get more personal than a 5-minute read once a week, follow me on ig 🙂 There is plenty of content there for you to explore to get to know me more, if you wish to do so.
I think this has been a pretty decent life update, so I am going to go lift for a bit before bed. 😀
I’ll catch ya next week! Thank you for checking in.
