You just woke up and you want to be thrilled for your day…but instead you are hungry and tired of your usual morning routine. How do you shake it up? By shaking up your eggs!! And doing many other things to them that I will get into below 😀
Being in a routine for something can absolutely have its pros, but I would say that it can also have some cons that revolve around the fact that nothing is ever really new for you in regards to this routine. In order to start your morning in a manner that is going to get you psyched for your day, I recommend mixing up how you make your breakfast. I am a HUGE eggs girl. I eat them basically every single morning, mostly scrambled. However, when things start to feel predicted and I start to feel stuck, my approach to my eggs changes. Here are just a few ways in which I adjust my egg prepping so that my mornings stay fresh, new, and exciting.
1. Over easy. This is where you leave the egg in the pan long enough for it to cook to become 1 “solid” piece, and then you carefully flip it to cook the other side. I personally do not let the second side cook for that long because I really like my eggs runny. Some people find this disgusting, but that’s okay. Also, I love these eggs on toast with jelly or toast with cream cheese. 🙂
2. Scrambled eggs, but with STUFF in them!!! I recommend greens, bananas, ham, peppers, avocado, turkey, new seasonings, scallions, mushrooms, or tomatoes. All of these at once would be super tasty, but even just using one of these add-ins will help change up your plate enough to make you interested in your new breakfast, fingers crossed!
3. Toad in the hole, aka throw in some toast! This mix of egg in bread is so yummy and takes less than 5 minutes to make (just make sure you start with a hot pan!). I prefer my egg within this recipe to be pretty runny still, so I will not cook either side of this too much (the photo shows that I did not follow this rule of mine though haha). However, adjusting how long you cook each side will affect the consistency, which will change the taste a little bit! I encourage you to try some different heating times and see which consistency of egg you like the best. Also, this is just so frickin cute. If you go with 1 piece of toast and 1 egg, I definitely recommend a side of fruit or yogurt or both.
4. Sunny side up! You know the drill, we are shining bright today with this one. This is not my go-to, but it is in the repertoire for those days where I need something just a little different. Not featured in the photo, but I love adding greens and other things to my sunny side up eggs as they cook so that the ingredients get stuck in the egg white part (in the photo there is some everything seasoning). You can also change the length of cooking time for this approach to change the consistency. If you decide to undercook it, the dripping yolk pairs super well with a bagel, waffles, or piece of bread. 🙂
There are absolutely more than four ways to try your eggs, and even more ways for you to have an eventful breakfast plate, so I will continue writing for you about all of these things in the future. For now I just want to leave you with the take away message that in all of these plates, you can see that I am eating more than just eggs. It is super important to fuel up at the start of the day and 2 eggs will not cut it for me. Everyone is different though, so craft a plate that works for you and remember to have some fun with it. Best of luck!
